3/24/2018 0 Comments A BASEBALL FAN'S CHRISTMASBY: MATTHEW PRESLARThe count down is close and the weather is unseasonably cold. It must be close to Christmas. NOT EXACTLY, but for a real baseball fan, this is the most wonderful time of the year. The major league season starts early this year, March 29. College and high school seasons are well underway also. I’ve been at the field plenty officiating high school, middle school, and rec league games. Even with our atypically cold and wet weather, its been great to be at the field. The top of my “Christmas” wish list came true today. This morning, the Augusta GreenJackets released single game tickets for sale. This is a big event because it marks the inaugural season at the brand new SRP Park in North Augusta, South Carolina. Unfortunately, we can’t make the trip to be there for the stadium opener. However, we will make a weekend trip for the second and third games, April 13 and 14. In less than three weeks, we will be at opening weekend in a brand new professional baseball stadium, somewhat of a bucket list event. To add to the cool factor, we will be near enough the South Carolina-Georgia border that we can be in two places at once, hopefully with some signage to provide photographic evidence. Please return to the site in a few weeks to see SRP Park and the entire GreenJackets experience through our eyes.
