SIX GAMES IN FOUR DAYS & NEW TERRITORY FOR BALLPARK ADVENTURES

BY: MATTHEW PRESLAR

Ballpark Adventures has another crazy tour scheduled for NEXT WEEK. Heading out in the early morning hours after the UFC Heavyweight Title fight between Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier, July 8th starts this six-stop tour.

This adventure takes us over the mountains into Tennessee with a brief swing through Virginia before heading South back to the Charlotte area. Due to fortunate openings in my schedule once again, we're even adding an extra day to go out and venture the world. This led us to exploring what was available on Rocky Top...

  • DAY ONE (July 8): What we found for this EXTRA DAY is a treat on many levels. Sunday we are exploring Nashville, TN and then visiting the Nashville Sounds. There are many things exciting about this stop. First, this has the cool factor of taking us just into the Central Time Zone. Secondly, and more amazingly, Nashville is the most eastern team in the AAA Pacific Coast League. How crazy does that sound?

  • DAY TWO (July 9): Appalachian League defending champion... Elizabethton Twins (Rookie)
Picture
  • DAY THREE (July 10): Ballpark Adventures’ first outing in Double A ball... Southern League Tennessee Smokies, affiliated with Chicago Cubs

    ***
Drive-by of Tusculum College’s Pioneer Park, home of the Greeneville Reds (last year was home to the GREENEVILLE ASTROS... and the birthplace of Ballpark Adventures! (Read how Ballpark Adventures got started HERE.)

  • SECOND GAME OF THE DAY: Famed Appalachian League team Johnson City Cardinals (Rookie)
Picture
  • DAY FOUR (July 11): Appalachian league Kingsport Mets (Rookie)
Picture
  • SECOND GAME OF THE DAY: Carolina League (Advanced A) Salem Red Sox
Do the math. That’s SIX games spanning FOUR different leagues: the highest of high in AAA and the lowest of low in Rookie Ball. This includes time travel going into another time zone, the next level of the Cubs (Myrtle Beach Pelicans), two entirely new leagues to Ballpark Adventures, and several stops in the Rookie League on Rocky Top, a very special place for us. This tour will put our new park total up to lucky thirteen for the year. We are looking very forward to hitting the road again next Sunday!!!!!
